Mesa, located in Maricopa County, is one of the nation’s fastest-growing cities, with a population that grew by more than 37 percent between 1990 and 2000. There are solid reasons for Mesa’s growth: low costs of doing business, reasonable tax structure, skilled and well-educated workforce, low crime rate, superior schools, affordable housing and an excellent quality of life. As part of the Phoenix-Mesa metroplex, Mesa is the third-largest city in Arizona and the nation’s 40th-largest city. Taking advantage of Mesa’s attractive lifestyle, more than 430,000 people call Mesa home. The City provides the advantages of a thriving metropolis while maintaining the feel of a suburban environment. Just 15 miles east of Phoenix, Mesa covers 128 square miles. The Commemorative Air Force, a world wide, all volunteer non-profit organization, is dedicated to the preservation in flying condition of the great war planes that dominated the skies of World War II. The Confederate Air Force Museum at Falcon Field is home to the authentically restored World War II B-17 bomber, "Sentimental Journey." Out of the 12,731 B-17s built during WWII, there are about 13 left flyable and approximately eight flying in the United States. In addition to "Sentimental Journey" the CAF Museum also maintains a German Heinkel HE-111 bomber, B-25 Mitchell bomber, SNJ, C-45, and a Grumman Guardian.

There's also a lighted driving range and putting green. P.G.A. golf instruction is offered for players of all ages and abilities. Free junior clinics are held each summer following the end of the school year. Las Sendas requires you to think your way around to play it well. Here, old foxes can outwit young limberbacks. Just hitting the ball will not be enough. You must favor the correct sides of the fairways to obtain the best angles to the greens. Some holes require a little governor, or lay-up, so as not to leave you with an impossible view to the greens. Generally, the greens are subtle. But, be very precise when you read the break to avoid slipping past the hole, as the land mostly falls toward the southwest and the grass grows toward the setting sun.
